I am a clarinetist and audio engineer from Blacksburg, VA. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music Production and Recording Technology from Shenandoah Conservatory in May 2020. I studied clarinet under Garrick Zoeter and earned a certificate in clarinet performance. I have experience with studio and location recordings, live sound, audio for video, and virtual and augmented reality sound design.
I am currently seeking internships in the audio engineering field in order to fulfill my degree requirements, after which I will have a Bachelor of Music in Music Production and Recording Technology.
Studio Experience
I have experience with the SSL Duality console and a variety of outboard gear. I use Pro Tools, Ableton Live, and Reaper and have recorded projects using 2, 8, and 24 track analog tape.
Audio for Virtual Reality
I spent 2 years working at the Shenandoah Center for Immersive Learning, where I was a sound designer for virtual and augmented reality. My work included capturing, processing, and mixing ambisonic audio for 360 videos, creating and implementing sound effects for virtual experiences in Unity, and programming using C# in Unity. Over the summer of 2019 I captured audio for a series of 360 videos involving historical reenactments of the Battle of Cool Spring, and created music and sound effects for an augmented reality tour of the historical site. I have participated in the Global Game Jam for the past 2 years.
Location Recording
I have experience recording on location, and have recorded orchestra concerts, chamber groups, jazz ensembles, contemporary ensembles, gospel shows, and rock bands.
Live Sound
I have mixed and operated monitors for live shows in a variety of genres, including jazz, gospel, contemporary, and classical. I have helped set up mobile sound systems including wireless mics and monitors.
Audio for Video
I worked as a boom operator for the Capital Arts production “Santa Girl” and captured sound for several student films at Shenandoah. I also did post-production audio for a campus feature film titled “Getaway.”
Clarinet
I earned a certificate for clarinet performance from Shenandoah Conservatory after completing 2 recitals. My junior year I performed 30 minutes worth of clarinet solo, duet, and quartet repertoire, and my senior year I performed an hour long recital featuring solo works, including classical, electronic, and modern pieces.
I performed in a large number of classical ensembles during my time at Shenandoah. I played in the Wind Ensemble for 3 years, orchestra for 3 years, pit orchestra for 2 years, and chamber ensemble for a year. I was the clarinet section leader for the wind ensemble, and principal clarinet in the orchestra. I was also a semi-finalist in Shenandoah’s concerto competition.
